PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of moire without deteriorating the sharpness of the reproduced picture by detecting the maximum and minimum values of the picture data against the alignment of the picture data in the scanning direction and correcting the gradation value based on the detected values. CONSTITUTION:The maximum and minimum values of the input picture data DIN of a moire correction part 50 are detected for the alignment in the scanning direction through latches 51, 52 by comparators 55, 56 and AND gates 57, 58. The latches 53, 54 hold the maximum and minimum values, a subtracter 64 outputs the amplitude value the difference between the nearest maximum and minimum values of the correction objective picture element between peaks. Based on the intensity of this output, the value to be used as a function is preliminarily stored in a following ROM 65. The correction of the picture data is performed and output picture data DOUT is outputted. Thus, the generation of moire can be reduced without deteriorating the sharpness of the reproduced picture. |
