PURPOSE:To surely acquire communication trace information required for fault analysis without increasing a memory capacity required for storing the communication trace information in the communication equipment connecting to a packet exchange network. CONSTITUTION:The equipment is provided with communication trace information storage areas 21,..., 2n allocated to each logic channel, and when transmission or reception data take place, a communication trace information processing section 4 extracts a logic channel number of a network header part and data for time and transmission reception dependence and a required byte number of transmission reception data are written sequentially in a storage area allocated to a logic channel. The equipment has pointers for each storage area on a pointer table 8.
