PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of a server-side attended with the addition of a new client in a translation processing system consisting of clients issuing a translation request and a server which is connected to the clinets through a communication channel and generates a translated sentence by means of executing the translation processing so as to transfer it to the clients. CONSTITUTION:A basic dictionary 20 is developed in the server 2, and user dictionaries 20 managing the corresponding notation of the basic dictionary 20 is developed in the clients 1-1 to 1-n. The clients 1-1 to 1-n add an identifier to a word which is managed by the user dictionary 10 and is not managed by the basic dictionary 20 and transfer it to the server 2. When the identifier is included in the translated sentence from the server 2, it is substituted for the corresponding user word of the user dictionary 10. When corresponding notation for which the user dictionary 10 manages is included, it is substituted for the corresponding user word of the user dictionary 10.
