The device forms medical images with light using an appts. for determining the transmission or reflection of light from objects (1) with an illumination device (6) emitting light in the red to infrared region and a two-dimensional position resolving image sensor (10) for detecting radiation from the object. The sensor is a CCD array and the illumination device, which generates a two-dimensional deflected scanning beam, includes a laser and a deflector which performs two-dimensional fan-shaped beam deflection. ADVANTAGE - Makes efficient use of transmitted light and enables simple computation of scattered light.
