A long line for winter fishing consists of two corner poles 3, 4, with reels 5 at the lower ends which are to be placed below the ice 1, the long line 2 having nylon snells 8 with lead sinker 20, hooks 21 and air balloons 7. The equipment is to be set up in the form of an isosceles triangle in such a way that the length of each side is, for example, 400 metres. The corner poles 3, 4 are to be frozen in on two sides of the triangle in such a way that the reels 5 remain upright under the ice 1. At the third corner of the triangle is the ice hole 6. The long line 2, on which the snells 8 with hooks 21 and air balloons 7 are secured, moves through the corner poles 3, 4 and the ice hole 6. The long line is monitored at the ice hole 6 by means of the snells 8 on the line 2 being drawn towards the ice hole 6. When fish are released, bait or worms are put in their place. When all the hooks 21 have been checked, the equipment has changed place from one side of the triangle to another. <IMAGE>
