Gas charged with toxic components (SO2 : NOX) enters the head of a reactor chamber, pref. frusto-conical, and while descending to the broadened chamber outlet is irradiated with ionising radiation across the entire flow cross-section (Q). This cross-section corresponds to that of the radiation entry plane (2) from an adjustable window in the chamber head. Fumes may enter the chamber from two equally charged pipes (5, 6) to be deviated by a central baffle (10) into a path coincident with the electron stream (4) emitted by an accelerator. Treated fumes leave from a further pair of exit pipes (7, 8). ADVANTAGE - With a single radiator, purifying radiation is homogeneously applied to fumes. Entire gas flow passes zone with highest dosage at max. speed. |
