Each straight pipe section (1) has, on its outer surface, at least one tension ring (2) with profiled cross-section which can be U-shaped, L-shaped, T-shaped, or trapezoidal. The tension ring is supported on the pipe section by a circumferential strip of plastics or sheet metal. The ring can be displaced axially on the pipe section and can be additionally secured by a fastening screw or welded seam. USE/ADVANTAGE - The pipe sections are stabilised against deforming and can be made with reduced wall thickness thereby saving valuable raw materials.
