PURPOSE:To execute accurate automatic focusing control by preventing errouneous range-finding caused by the missing of a beam. CONSTITUTION:In this automatic focusing controller having a projecting part 10 projecting multibeams, a photodetector 14 outputting range-finding information according to a position for receiving a reflected beam, beam missing judging means 12 and 18 judging whether each beam of the multibeams received by the above-mentioned photodetector 14, has beam missing or not, are provided. The beam not having the beam missing or having less beam missing, out of the multibeams, is specified and selected, for instance, by the number of light emitting times for detecting a prescribed light quantity, and the automatic focusing control is executed according to the number of automatic focus stages obtained with the beams not having the beam missing. |
