PURPOSE: To treat an emotional paralysis by administering an effective amount of a sedative antagonistic agent or pharmaceutically permissible salt thereof. CONSTITUTION: A relevant patient is administered with a sedative antagonistic agent (pref. a compound bearing a five-membered cyclic nucleus such as nalmefene, naloxone, naltrexone, nalbuphine or thebaine) or pharmacologically permissible salt thereof in an amount effective for transforming emotional paralysis so as to treat the patient's emotional paralysis involved in stress disorder developed after external wound or other psychopathologic lesions. Oral administration is esp. effective for this compound, its dose being 0.5-1.0 mgms.b.i.d. for the 1st one week, 1.0-5.0mgms.b.i.d. for the next one week, 5.0-10.0mgms.b.i.d., 10.0-20.0mgms.b.i.d. for the next one week, then increasing 10.0-20.0mgm each per week over the period until the patient is freed from paralytic state.
