The leak indicating device (10) for double-walled containers, tubes (1), etc. for storing and transporting flammable and non-flammable fluids, has a pressurised monitoring chamber (2). A pressure switch (8) connected to the chamber via a measuring lead (7) controls an optical and/or acoustic alarm (16). A lead (6) connects the chamber to a pressurised gas source (12), two pressure switches (8,9), a throttle (14) and a bypass lead (17). The first switch (8) controls a magnet valve (13) in the lead which controls the pressure in the chamber. The second switch (9) controls a light detector (15) and/or a summer (16). The throttle sets the gas flow when the pressure from the source is in a set ratio to that in the chamber. The bypass lead bypasses the valve and throttle. A manual valve (18) opens the bypass when the chamber is filled with gas after repairing a leak. ADVANTAGE - Detects leaks reliably and fulfils requirements of safety standards for use with standard pipes, in simple manner.
