PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having high catalytic activity and durability with which optically active 1-substd.-1,3-propanediol can be produced at high yield by using a specified luthenium-phosphine complex with 4 iodine atoms coordinated CONSTITUTION:A luthenium-phosphine complex of a tertiary phosphine expressed by [RuI(p-cymene)(R<1>-BINAP)]I3 is used as a catalyst for various org. synthesizing reaction, especially for assymmetric hudrogenation reaction. In formula, R<1>-BINAP is a tertiary phosphine expressed by formula I. In formula I, R<1> is a phenyl group which may have a substitution of lower alkyl group or halogen atom at para and/or meta position. With the obtd. catalyst, especially for assymmetric hydrogenation reaction of 3-oxopropanols or 3-oxopropanals, a-substd.-1,3-propanediol with high optical purity can be produced at high yield. |
