A scale rule for use specifically, but not exclusively, with stage plans, lighting plots, and other such drawings or diagrams where dimensions are referenced from a central zero point and increase to both the right and left of this point. Measurement by this method insures that, regardless of the peripheral dimensions of the performance space, once the center line of the stage has been located measurements from the plan can be easily and consistently transferred. For example, a certain scenic element is three meters toward stage left from the center line or a certain lighting fixture is five meters toward stage right from the center line. To facilitate this type of measurement this scale has the zero point in the center of the rule and increasing increments along the scale to both the right and left of this point.
