A three-phase diode bridge rectifier (1) supplies the inverter (2) via a current-setting series transistor (8) and choke (7) with a feedback diode (9) to dissipate hazardous overvoltages. The four inverter transistors (4) with inverse-parallel diodes (5) deliver current (IA) to the prim. winding (10) of a h.v. transformer feeding the filter. Losses in the inverter are minimised by redn. of the current flowing through it during interruptions of the supply to the load, prolonging the transistor's lifetime. ADVANTAGE - Cost of electrical energy is minimised with the electrical losses in the intermediate circuit of the inverter. .
