PURPOSE:To obtain an industrial germicide, having sufficient germicidal power at a low concentration so as not to exhibit sufficient germicidal effects by using single ingredients and capable of readily suppressing the proliferation of aquatic microorganisms which are conventionally difficult to suppress and reducing cost. CONSTITUTION:An industrial germicide is obtained by using (a) one or more isothiazolone compounds expressed by the formula (X and Y are H or halogen) or their magnesium complex salt compounds, e.g. 2-methylisothiazolin-3-one, 2-methyl-4-chloroisothiazolin-3-one, 2-methyl-5-chloroisothiazolin-3-one or 2- methyl-4,5-dichloroisothiazolin-3-one and (b) a methylenebisthiocyanate as active ingredients, preferably at (10:1) to (1:10), especially (5:1) to (1:5) weight ratio of the ingredients (a):(b) in combination. This industrial germicide is capable of readily preventing contamination of hydrous industrial raw materials and products such as synthetic resin latices utilized in various industrial fields of adhesives, coatings, paper, fiber, building materials, etc., at a low cost. |
