<p>A steering angle detecting apparatus of the type in which a steering angle is calculated by a computer (12). When a steering shaft (20) is rotated, pulse signals (SS1, SS2) are generated in an encoder (10). In response to these pulse signals (SS1, SS2), the direction of rotation and angle of rotation of the steering shaft (20) are detected by the computer (12). When a sampling signal is generated in relation to the running of the vehicle, an average value of the past, accumulated angles of rotation of the steering shaft (20) is calculated by the computer (12), and then an angle of rotation of the same shaft (20) with respect to a neutral position indicated by this average value.</p> |
