摘要 The height profile is measured using laser scanning (10). An electric signal for the height profile and an electric signal (V), for the delivery speed of the conveyor belt (4), are used for the prodn. of an electric signal (V) characterising the vol. flow of the tobacco material. The electric signal (m) for the mass flow and the electric signal (V) for the vol. flow are supplied to a divider element (22) for forming a quotient. An electric signal (A) representing the cross section of the tobacco flow is formed by superimposing the signal for the height profile on a signal for the profile of the empty conveyor belt (4). ADVANTAGE - Gives continuous working method. Measurement itself does not influence height of tobacco flow to be measured. Filling ability of tobacco flows of any cross-sectional contour are determined.
