<p>The invention relates to a novel plant gene regulatory element having substantially the sequence 5'-TCATCTTCTT-3' which confers stress-responsiveness upon the expression of operably-linked protein-coding sequences. Substances which recognise this novel regulatory element are also disclosed. The invention provides a method of regulating the expression of protein-coding sequences and of monitoring the stress to which a plant is exposed.</p> |
