<p>A domestic oven provides for the exclusive or partial use, in the latter case for a mixed type cooking, of the steam directly generated inside the cooking container (12) wherein water is fed from a tank through a pipe (7) passing through the side wall of the container itself, and drawn by means of an electric valve or supplied by means of an electric pump. The heating element which generates steam directly in the container, preferably consisting of a baking-pan (12) with steel bottom and sides and possibly a pyrex-like transparent lid (12a), is positioned on the oven bottom in the middle of the container itself, whose bottom preferably has a water containing projection (15) and rests in contact with the heating element (16) for the evaporation and with the oven bottom possibly provided with other heating elements (8) for the conventional cooking.
