PURPOSE:To realize high data compressibility by converting a dictionary number to the other dictionary number showing a smaller value or a larger value corresponding to the order of appearance frequency and converting dictionary numbers to be changed to variable length codes. CONSTITUTION:A converting means 12 of a data encode processing device 1 converts the dictionary number obtained in the maximum length coincident character string detected by a detecting means 11 to the other dictionary number showing the smaller value or the larger value corresponding to the order of appearance frequency and registers the converting relation of this dictionary number on a managing means 13. While referring to a dictionary 10, the detecting means 11 detects the maximum length coincident character string following to the preceding detected maximum length coincident character string and registered on the dictionary and outputs the dictionary number of this maximum length coincident character string to a specifying means 14. According to the management data of the managing means 13, the specifying means 14 specifies the converted dictionary number corresponding to this dictionary number. Then, a coding means 15 converts the converted dictionary number specified by the specifying means 14 to the variable length code. |
