The telephone has a speak/listen device coupled to the telephone line together with a modem for data and/or facsimile transmission, generating dial signals using data supplied via a personal computer. The dial signal generator (14) has an interface (11) coupled to the standard interface (20) of a personal computer (13), to allow the telephone to be operated remotely.Pref. the interface (11) for the telephone is coupled between the computer interface (20) and a push-button matrix (17) and has a serial/parallel converter (22), an opto-coupler (23) for galvanic separation and a matrix coder (24).
