The IC provides a negative stabilised operating voltage (Vneg) using an internal comparator (2) coupled to a switch (S1). A reference voltage (Vref) and a rectangular clock signal (C) are fed to one IC pin (P1), the switch (S1) connected between a voltage source (Vcc) and a second IC pin (P2). The IC is externally earthed via an inductance (L) with a resistor (R2) and a rectifier diode (D1) across the 2 pins (P1,P2), their junction earthed via a capacitor (C3) across which the stabilised operating voltage (Vneg) is obtained.
