A novel xanthine derivative represented by general formula (I), which selectively antagonizes adenosine receptor, and a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. In formula (I) R<1> and R<2> may be the same or different from each other and each represents hydrogen, propyl, butyl or allyl; R<3> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl; Y<1> and Y<2> may be the same or different from each other and each represents hydrogen or methyl; and Z represents (un)substituted phenyl, pyridyl, imidazolyl, furyl or thienyl.
