The present invention relates to a process for lifting objects and a device for realizing the process. The device for lifting objects 13 comprises an electromagnet 1,2 having ductile poles 3, the shape of the poles 3 being able to be adapted to the object 13 to be lifted, and a pump, connected by ducts 4 to the ductile poles 3, for lowering the pressure in and stabilizing the shape of the ductile poles 3, whereafter the object is lifted.
