Pile cutting unit - has number of closely packed thin bodies to press material towards spiral cutter for fine patterning

The shearing appts. to cut the piles of a pile material, has a number of units each with a thin main body moving vertically in a slit in the unit block. The body has an integral thick headpiece to press the under layer of the material towards the spiral cutter. The thick head pieces are arranged next to each other, without intermediate gaps over the whole axial length of the spiral cutter. The lower section of the thin main body has an integral leg, displaced from the legs of neighbouring bodies. A cylinder mounting block, below the unit blocks, has piston rods for each leg, operated by pneumatic cylinders. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is an arrangement of a spiral cutter and a cutting blade to cut piles between them at the under layer of a pile fabric to give a fine design pattern. As the units are close together, a fine patterning can be executed, with flexibility to work along long and short piles from materials for blankets to coverings for vehicles. The piles can be cut in two stages if required.
