PURPOSE:To provide an ink cartridge retainer capable of correctly positioning and securing an ink jet head. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge made in a manner joining a head basement 4 formed with an ink jet head 18 to an ink tank is provided and, further, a carriage 30 is provided wherein a first carriage frame 31 having a support wall 33 and a second carriage frame 32 having a cartridge retainer 35 are connected slidably. When the first and second carriage frames 31, 32 are fastened by a clamping mechanism 51, by holding the head basement 4 with the support wall 33 and cartridge retainer 35, the position of the ink jet head 18 integrally formed on the head basement 4 is determined and a connector 24 on the carriage 30 is brought into touch with the contact point on the head basement 4. |
