The invention relates to a treatment process for waste paper with selective flotation, wherein the selective flotation is carried out in a plurality of stages. The invention is characterised in that the froth is tangentially fed to a hydrocyclone which produces two fractions, light particle and gas being preferably taken off from the core at the upper end and contaminants being taken off at the lower end, and the lower fraction being discarded to a point upstream of the selective flotation unit and the core fraction.
