PURPOSE:To ensure the execution of the effective image processing over an entire due area by using the value of the effective picture elements in a pre scribed area when the value of each picture element is decided based on the value of those picture elements in the prescribed area including the relevant picture element. CONSTITUTION:The value of the noticed picture element included in a set mask area is decided by the two-dimensional space filtering processing. In this case, a picture element is selected in a rectangular area around the noticed picture element. If the selected picture element is included in the mask area, the value of this picture element is used for the two-dimensional space filtering processing operation. If not, the value of the picture element is not used for the operation. When such processing is carried out to all picture elements included in the rectangular area, even such noticed picture element whose rectangular area overflows the mask area can also effectively processed. |
