<p>Bale wrapping method and apparatus for applying a stretchable plastics film wrapping around a composite assembly of bales, preferably twin bales (16), which are arranged in end to end relationship and which can be wrapped together to form a composite wrapped package (30), in which the apparatus comprises a table (14) having a pair of laterally spaced rollers (15), a support (19) carrying a dispenser reel (20) of stretchable plastics films which can be withdrawn in order to apply overlapping windings of film around the twin bale assembly (16) in order to enclose the bales with film wrapping, and means for causing relative movement between the table (14) and the support (19) with respect to an upright axis (23) extending substantially perpendicular to the common longitudinal axis (17) of the twin bales (16), and comprising: loading the two bales (16) onto the rollers (15) of the table (14) in end to end relationship; rotating the two bales (16) about their common longitudinal axis (17); simultaneously causing relative movement between the table (14) and the support (19) so that film can be withdrawn from the reel (20) and be applied as successive overlapping windings around the twin bale assembly (16) until the outer peripheral surface of the twin bale assembly (16) is covered, and also the opposed end faces (24) of the twin bales, so as to form a composite wrapped package (30); and effecting tipping of the table (14) when desired wrapping has been applied in order to discharge the composite wrapped package (30).</p> |
