Provision is made for the stages of: reducing the volume of the waste contained in metal drums or flexible polypropylene fabric containers (big bags) to a volume of approximately 1/4 the initial volume, followed by homogenisation in the case of flexible containers so as to obtain pellets of a consistency and solidity comparable with that of conventional building materials, placing the pellets in reinforced concrete containers and pouring into these a covering and sealing mortar which confers mechanical strength properties and waste containment properties on the final manufactured article such as to ensure that the manufactured article can be disposed of in type 2A dumps according to current regulations. The plant comprises means for delivering the containers of asbestos-containing waste to a crusher unit (in the case of big bags) where the stages of homogenisation and the addition of binder are performed, control means and metering means for the ground material, a compacting press, which can also be fed with asbestos- containing wastes in metal drums, and means for locating the pellets originating from the press in reinforced cement containers, and then performing the covering and sealing casting. <IMAGE> |
