PURPOSE:To provide an abrupt stop buffer for smoothly surely stopping a vehicle without abrupt stop when a foot is separated from an HST pedal and preventing the vehicle from moving out on a slope or the like after the stop in a traveling vehicle having an HST system speed change gear for adjusting speed with the HST pedal. CONSTITUTION:An HST system speed change gear is provided with a bypass circuit 17 opened and closed by an electromagnetic valve 18 in parallel to a hydraulic motor 10. An HST pedal 6 provided with a pressure sensitive sensor S is connected to the electromagnetic valve 18. In a fixed time after a foot is separated from the HST pedal, the electromagnetic valve 18 of the bypass circuit 17 is opened.
