PURPOSE:To determine whether the operation environment is defined as the operation environment on a server or the operation environment of each work station (WS), when other work station (WS) on a network uses a shared program on the server. CONSTITUTION:In a computer network in which plural WSs 1, 2, 3... are connected by the network, one of them is defined as a server 1, and also, its operation environment is held by a program unit, a shared program 4 and its operation environment information 7 are registered in the server 1, and in the WSs 2, 3... system information 5, 6... and operation environment information 8, 9... can be held at every WS, and when the shared program 4 is operated by the WSs 2, 3..., the system information 5, 6... is referred to, and whether the operation environment is set by the operation environment information of the server 1 side, or by the operation environment information of the own WS side is recognized, ad based thereon, the operation environment is determined.
