PURPOSE:To enable the pilot, etc., of a traveling object to use the information about the output of a GPS receiver without providing any exclusively used navigation display nor performing displayed picture switching. CONSTITUTION:A processing section reads the name of a place being approached by a traveling object by retrieving a place name memory 16 based on a latitude and departure from a GPS receiver 10, finds the distance and bearing to the place based on the latitude and departure read from the memory 16 and the latitude and departure from the receiver 10, and finds the time required by the traveling object to reach the place based on the speed of the object from the receiver 10. Then the section 15 supplies the name of the place and the bearing, distance, and required time to the place to a character picture generating section 18 and the section 18 generates picture signals of characters. A picture synthesizing section 20 inputs television signals, etc., through a picture input terminal 22, synthesizes the television signals, etc., with the output of the section 18, and displays pictures containing characters on the screen of a picture display 14. |
