An optically active 1-phenylpyrrolidone derivative represented by general formula (I), wherein R represents an optically active α-phenylethylamino group which may be substituted; a 1-phenylpyrrolidone derivative represented by general formula (I-a), and a process for producing 1-phenylpyrrolidone derivatives represented by these formulae.
