PURPOSE:To carry out starting operation properly and stably, which is discharge starting operation of a light emitting tube of a high pressure vapour discharge lamp, and at the same time to start the starting operation well at restarting time. CONSTITUTION:A connection element 27 which can be deformed plastically is installed in a connection line 36 to an outer auxiliary conductor 18 in a connection part of an electric power source 10 and the outer auxiliary conductor 18 and a starter 14 (a pulsed voltage generating circuit 16) and one thermally corresponding element 25 is installed in a connection line 34 to the electric power source. The thermally corresponding element 25 is provided with operation characteristics and installed in the way wherein the element 25 is in the electrically connected state with the connection line 38 to the starter 14 in the condition the connection element is pushed and bent at the time of normal temperature and when temperature rises to a first set temperature, its connection state is cancelled while the pushed and bent condition of the connection element 27 is moderated and when temperature rises further to a second set temperature higher than the former, the element 25 is made to part from the connection element. Consequently, discharge starting operation is carried out stably not only at lighting time but at restarting time. |
