PURPOSE:To obtain a camera provided with a zooming function which is easy to be used by constituting the camera so that a focusing action can be executed at the same time that a focal distance is changed without using a special switch or a special sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a zooming speed change-over switch 75 and a zooming set button 77 are operated, control processing related to power zooming is executed by a lens CPU 61. When a photographer turns an operation ring and sets the desired focal distance, he/she releases the hand from the zooming operation ring. Then, when the zooming operation ring is returned to a neutral position by the pressing force of an incorporated spring, a power zooming switch is changed to a turning-off state from a turning-on state and an off-edge is detected. By turning off the power zooming switch in such a way, a prescribed control procedure is executed and a distance to an object at a focusing time and the focal distance at that time are measured. Then, image magnification at that time is stored. |
