Inlet box for a papermaking machine, comprising the following parts arranged in the presented order in the direction of flow of the pulp suspension: a distribution shaft 15 for the inlet box; a perforated disk 17 with flow hole 18 in the plane of the front wall of the distribution shaft 14, which perforated disk acts as a first flow resistance to the flow of the inlet box; an equalising chamber 25; a turbulence generator 26 which functions as a second flow resistance; an overlap channel 29 which tapers in the flow direction F; an overlap opening 20 at the exit end of the overlap channel, in which overlap opening the flow of pulp suspension J flows out across the shaping wire gauze or to the gap K between the shaping wire gauzes 10, 12. The inlet box includes an individual distribution disk or distribution disks 20 with mutually parallel distribution disks 21. These distribution disks extend L subscript 1 in the flow direction F of the pulp suspension for a considerable portion across the length L subscript 2 of the equalising chamber 25. The distribution disks of said system of distribution disks 21 are of uniform surface structure without significant discontinuous places from both opposite surfaces in the transverse direction across the entire width L of the inlet box. <IMAGE>
