PURPOSE:To obtain a vector for expressing a hepatitis C virus (HCV) constituent polypeptide, and to provide a method for producing the HCV constituent polypeptide using the vector and a method for utilizing the vector. CONSTITUTION:This viral vector is capable of highly expressing an HCV constituent polypeptide obtained by transducing a transfer vector containing a gene fragment capable of coding a signal sequence of a rabies virus G protein integrated on the upstream side of a gene capable of coding the HCV constituent polypeptide into a baculovirus. Furthermore, the resultant HCV coat glycoprotein is useful for diagnosing hepatitis C or as a vaccine material.
