The invention relates to an electric shaver with a removable head, and comprises an abrasive head which is identical to the inner dimensions of the original removable head, but is equipped with means for restoring the lost sharpness of the shaving blade. This appliance comprises a head in which a suitable abrasive material is arranged where the cutting blade slides if the original head were in operation. By replacing the original head with the abrasive head and then actuating the shaver for a few seconds (periodically) the abrasive material, which is in close contact with the cutting blade, will bring about a sharpening action and will result in a significant improvement in the efficiency of the electric shaver.
