The invention relates to a foldable tent, in particular a tent comprising a tent canvas and a frame which is formed by gate structures which, in the erected state, extend in a vertical plane and rods which extend substantially perpendicular to the gate structures and are horizontal in the erected state, the gate structures being pivotable within the vertical plane, the gate structures being slidable on the horizontal rods, and the gate structures each being formed by uprights which are pivotably connected to one another in the projecting part and each comprise a hinge. As a result of this measure, the tent can not only be folded up in the first direction, i.e. in the plane of the gate structures, but also can be folded up, or at least pushed together, in a direction which extends perpendicular to the first direction. This means that a tent of larger dimensions, such as a tent which can be used for building work, can also be folded up to form a portable unit. This measure ensures that the tent can be erected or taken down in as short a time as possible.
