PURPOSE:To quickly change an object to be tracked without changing framing in a camera provided with an object tracking function by which the object moving in a field is automatically tracked. CONSTITUTION:This camera is provided with a photometry means 10 performing photometry by dividing the field into plural areas and outputting plural pieces of photometry information concerning the luminance of the field, an object tracking means 12 detecting the movement of the object by using output from the means 10 and tracking the object, a focus detection means 14 having plural focus detection areas in the field and detecting a focusing state in every focus detection area, and a focusing means 13 for performing the manual focusing of a photographing lens. Then, it is constituted so that the focusing of the photographing lens is performed by the means 13 while the means 12 is tracking the object, and the means 12 tracks the object positioned at the focus detection area where focusing has been attained as a new object in the case where focusing has been attained at least in one of the plural focus detection areas. |
