PURPOSE:To mutually connect the computers of corresponding operation modes within the limit of a standard protocol without exchanging information of each operation mode by way of a contact point or a transmission line by selectively and mutually connecting only computers taking a specified operation mode. CONSTITUTION:When a new operation mode is established by a computer B on a server side, the computer B registers again only user names corresponding to the operation mode of an opposite computer to be allowed to mutually connect to a user register file by a user management file update mechanism 1-5. On the other hands, a computer A on a client side, uses only user names corresponding to the operation mode of its own computer to execute log-in to the computer B on the server side after a new operation mode is established by its own computer. Then, in the computer B on the server side, only the user name corresponding to the operation mode of a client to be allowed to mutually connect is registered in a user management file 1-3 so that the opposite computer succeeding log-in automatically becomes the computer of a desired operation mode for the client.
