<p>A security system for a vehicle comprising a control unit (4) connected to the power supply (3) of the vehicle and capable of sending signals along such power supply lines, and having a relay unit (1) connected in parallel or in series with at least one vehicle component (2). When the relay unit (1) is connected in parallel with the vehicle component (2) it provides a low resistance path such that when the relay unit (1) is activated the vehicle component (2) is disabled. Signalling is effected between the units (1, 4) along the supply lines of the vehicle by selectively switching a resistive load to the power lines or by superimposing a modulated high frequency signal onto the power lines.</p> |
