<p>A polymer stabilized cholesteric textures wafer (12) is sandwiched between two electrode plates (20, 24), one of which is transparent. Terminals (26, 28) are provided for connection in parallel with a circuit protection device of an AC circuit. If the circuit protection device opens circuits, AC is supplied to the electrodes (18, 22) across the polymer wafer (12). This drives the wafer (12) to a reflecting state wherein it is coloured. This reflecting state may be viewed by an observer through the transparent electrode.</p> |
