The invention relates to a safety foot control linkage for passenger motor vehicles with a bearing bracket (4), serving for the swivelling articulation of at least one pedal (2) acting on a pushrod (14), which bracket is fixed on a wall area (5) of the splash wall or transverse wall of the vehicle being discernibly deformed into the passenger compartment (15) in the event of a vehicle frontal impact. In order to further reduce the risk of injury to the driver in the foot area in the event of a vehicle frontal impact, the pedal axis (3) of the pedal (2) is mounted in the bearing bracket (4) in an abutment (7) which, although it conventionally supports the reaction forces occurring in operational actuation of the pedal (2), through interaction with a release mechanism (9) automatically releases the pedal axis (3) in the event of a vehicle frontal impact, specifically in such a way that the pedal (2) is capable of swivelling essentially without resistance with its pedal axis (3) towards the cross member (6) out of the abutment (7) and with its lower free end towards the wall area (5) carrying the bearing bracket (4).
