PURPOSE: To obtain minimum measuring time required for watertight test for a housing from calculation by measuring deformation amount of the housing and obtaining its recoverable speed to take it measure of leakage. CONSTITUTION: Recoverable speed Vr of a relative deformation amount as a measure of leakage is expressed by the equatation Vr=Da-De/Da×T, wherein T is measuring time, Da is deformation amount right after loading test pressure, De is deformation amount after the measuring time. Then, when accuracy of measuring system is (d) and uncertainty of the measuring system is considered, Da-De=2d. If a value Lr which shows the leakage of the housing is defective is substituted, Lr=2d/Da×T. Accordingly, minimum required measuring time T is obtained from T=2d/Da×Lr.
