A compound of formula (1) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein Ar is an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl ring selected from phenyl, naphthyl, pyridyl, pyrimidyl, pyridazinyl, pyrazinyl, imidazolyl, thienyl, oxazolyl, benzimidazolyl, benzoxazolyl, indolyl or thianaphthenyl, X is CH or N; R<0> is NR<1>R<2> or hydrogen; and R<1> and R<2> are independently hydrogen or C1-6alkyl. The compounds of this invention are inhibitors of calmodulin insensitive cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase and are of use in combating such conditions where such inhibition is thought to be beneficial.
