The invention relates to a contact system having stationary and moving contact pieces for an electromagnetic switching device having a switching magnet with an armature for operation of the moving contact pieces and having a quick-action release with strikers for operating the moving contact pieces, said moving contact pieces being mounted in a sprung manner on contact carriers which can be operated by means of a bridge carrier which is connected to the armature of the switching magnet of the switching device, in the case of which contact system the contact carrier (which is fitted with the moving contacts) and the striker of the quick-action release are designed such that they can be detachably latched to one another when the quick-action release is in the released state, in order to improve the short-circuit resistance and to prevent welding of the contact pieces of the contact carriers which are fitted with the moving contacts and the strikers of the quick-action release. It is intended in particular to design the striker in the form of a fork in order to engage around the contact carrier, such that it latches. <IMAGE>
