At present, there are only greetings cards which play a tune while the card is folded open. The problem is to incorporate a music chip into a ballpoint pen, which music chip plays a tune (for example an advertising jingle) when the push-button is actuated and switches off after a certain time. The advantage of the ballpoint pen resides in the fact that a tune is played when the push-button is actuated. In order to permit the playing of the tune when the push-button (17) is actuated, a second protrusion (6) is formed on the refill, this pressing on a metal strip (11) and so permitting the flow of electrical current from the battery (12) to the contact breaker (10). In order to permit the interruption of the tune after a predetermined time, a contact breaker (10) is introduced between the battery (12) and the music chip (9), this interrupting the flow of current at a particular temperature. The ballpoint pen is suitable as an advertising medium because of the recordable music chip. <IMAGE>
