METHOD FOR CONTROLLING MOISTURE CONTENT OF WOOD

PURPOSE:To control the moisture content of wood over a broad range in real time in a non-contacting state without requiring skillfulness by measuring the intensity of electromagnetic waves from the wood and finding the moisture content by applying the measured intensity to a prefixed correlation. CONSTITUTION:A correlation found under various measuring conditions by measuring CCT values which are the intensity of the reflected waves of electromagnetic waves radiated upon various kinds of wood the water contents of which are found in advance is stored in the setting section 6 of an arithmetic processing section 4 as a data file. Then the CCT value of the reflected waves of the electromagnetic waves radiated upon wood 1 to be measured is measured with a video camera 2 and analyzed by means of a picture analyzing system 3 and, at the same time, the CCT value is converted into a digital signal. An appropriate data file is selected from among the data files stored in the setting section 6 in accordance with the kind of the wood 1 and measuring conditions based on the digital signal and a comparing section 7 finds the moisture content of the wood 1 by applying the CCT value to the selected data file.
