Coffin-introducing machine for crematorium furnaces, having a main combustion chamber (33), a grid composed of grid blocks (32) which are at a distance from one another, and a post-combustion chamber situated below the latter, the coffin-introducing machine (23) being movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the furnace and having two beams (2, 3) which are parallel to the said axis, are vertically movable and on which beams (2, 3) there rests the coffin (S) to be cremated, with the interposition of supports. The supports are arranged on the mutually opposing side surfaces of the beams (2, 3) and can be pivoted or otherwise displaced from these side surfaces. A coffin-introducing machine structured in this way makes it possible for the coffin to be reliably fed even in the event of operational disturbances and permits the coffin-introducing machine to be returned to the starting position.
